Dear South Sudanese, guest reader, greetings to you, welcome and thank you for visiting our company's website. Please read my introduction to the company below, and let us know what you think.
My name is Martin Aken Thel Mou Aken, and I am the main shareholder/owner and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Jamata Investment Group (JIG) Ltd. Currently, there are five (5) independent business entities operating under Jamata Investment Group Ltd in the Republic of South Sudan, namely:
(1) Jamata Drilling & Water Supply (JDWS) Ltd, fully operational.
(2) Jamata Clearing & Forwarding (JCF) Ltd, fully operational.
(3) Jamata Logistics & Supply (JLS) Ltd, partly operational.
(4) Jamata Construction (JC) Ltd, partly operational, and
(5) Jamata M-Gurush Agent, fully operational (money transfer across South Sudan & parts of East Africa).
I wish to take this opportunity to proudly present to you Jamata Drilling and Water Supply (JDWS) Ltd. This company was registered on 23rd October 2020 and operated through collaboration and contracting-out our work to other water drilling companies. However, we were able to procure our own drilling equipment recently and managed to dig our first borehole in Eden neighborhood in Juba on 2nd June 2022, organized a staff workshop and officially launched the company on 9th July 2022 at Yam Hotel in Juba.
As mentioned above, Jamata Drilling and Water Supply (JDWS) Ltd is part of Jamata Investment Group (JIG) Ltd. It is a new progressive service company, an indigenous private company (100% owned by South Sudanese), working for Profit, and serving our communities.
Why did we create Jamata Drilling and Water Supply (JDWS) Ltd?
We created JDWS Ltd because there was an established need for such a service in South Sudan, due to lack of sufficient clean drinking water for many communities. Plus, the existing drilling and water supply companies are few, mostly foreign owned, and sometime over charging our people for services rendered.
According to UNICEF South Sudan, despite the abundance of rivers in South Sudan, “Fifty-nine per cent (59%) of the population (estimated to be 13 million people) lacks access to safe water. To survive, families are forced to drink dirty water, putting them at risk of many waterborne diseases such as cholera and diarrhoea, which remain the leading causes of death among children in South Sudan. The situation is further aggravated by poor hygiene practices. Just ten per cent (10%) of the population have access to improved sanitation”.
Therefore, providing communities with access to safe / clean drinking water is crucial to sustaining life and livelihoods, and one way of doing this is by drilling boreholes, water wells, erecting water yards, etc. Plus, trucking fresh/clean drinking water to individual households and communities.
